PTFE Oil Seals require time to settle after fitment, once the seal has been slid off the guide tube, the seal shrinks onto the crankshaft, this requires up to four hours before the engine is started, the seal must be fitted dry, the crankshaft must be wiped clean of oil and kept dry and clean to enable the seal to shrink into place. PTFE seals will leak if this process is not followed, if there is any oil or debris between the seal and the mating surface the seal will not shrink into place correctly.
